ABOUT THE SHRAPNEL OG: The Extrema Ratio SHRAPNEL OG is one of the series of fixed blades that are compact and suitable for EDC. Extrema Ratio classifies this knife as a back-up knife. Excellent Italian styling together with quality craftsmanship makes the Shrapnel OG an exceptional EDC. Good addition to your backpack or bug-out bag.

BLADE: It has an eye catching leaf shaped blade designed to make a robust blade. The SHRAPNEL OG performs as well as many bigger knives. It is a “no nonsense” knife with a clean, well-designed blade without serrations. It has the Extrema Ratio Testudo (black) finish that is very protective against corrosion, oxidation and is non-reflective.

HANDLE: The SHRAPNEL OG has a shortened handle so if you have very large hands you might not find it a comfortable fit. It is on par with the other Extrema Ratio back-up knives as far as length and weight. The tang extends beyond the handle end to provide you with a window breaker and a lanyard hole There is a single lower guard with a lanyard hole in it.

The top of the handle near the blade has been indented 1.34 inches (mm 34.04) and the blade spine exposed and ridged. This gives you a place for your thumb so you can exert more pressure on the blade and have more control.

SHEATH: The sheath has an Extrema Ratio belt clip that allows you to adjust your carry positions. This belt clip can be positioned at various heights on the hard sheath, plus you can configure it so that it sits at various angles. This gives you almost unlimited options for a comfortable carry. You can position your knife for a carry that works best for you. The sheath has an automatic retention system that holds the knife securely and safely.

* The blade is made with N690 cobalt stainless steel; a high performance steel with excellent cutting and sharpening characteristics. This steel is also used in the butchering industry and to make surgical instruments.

** The Forprene handle is resistant to extreme temperatures and moisture. It can be disassembled for easier cleaning.

While they are known for their versatility, durability and strength, they are not ideal for preparing food. For food preparation purposes, it's recommended to use kitchen knives specially designed for the task.
