The SELVANS should probably go under two classifications: 1) survival/wilderness knife, and 2) survival/wilderness tool, since it is a blend of both. The SELVANS is well-named after the Etruscan mythological god of forests. The Extrema Ratio SELVANS was developed with input from Daniele Dal Canto who is a Master Instructor for the Federazione Italiana Survival Sportivo e Sperimentale. (Italian Survival Federation). Their goal was to make the SELVANSa survival/wilderness knife that was also a high-performing “working tool”. The SELVANS is a specialize knife; a great companion in wilderness and survival situations. Bold. Strong.

BLADE: The blade has a durable black coating that protects it from corrosion and makes it reflection proof. This is a massive, powerful blade. The blade at the widest part is almost two inches. The thick blade is exposed on the spine as it enters the handle and sits slightly above the handle and extends into the top of the handle. This gives you a safe, convenient, thumb pressure area. The sharpened edge ends just before reaching the handle end of the blade and the blade then continues slightly more to create a thicken area for a lanyard hole as well as providing a lower guard.

HANDLE: The handle on the SELVANS is also black. It is made of Forprene and ergonomically designed to give you an excellent grip. Very lightly textured and has a “rubbery” feel to it. Indentations on the handle near the blade provide additional hand control. The SELVANS handle is removable as needed for necessary knife maintenance. The butt end of the handle terminates in a flat pommel with a lanyard hole. (Lanyard included.)

SHEATH: This Extrema Ratio SELVANS does not have the survival kit but does have a MOLLE compatible sheath. It is made of high-quality reinforced nylon. Color is green. It has a removable belt strap section that snaps on/off if you want to remove it. It also has a leg strap to provide stability.
